Brass, black-painted metal, relief decoration after the frieze on the Temple of Apollo Epicurius at Bassae, manufacturer's mark. Height 70 cm.

The motif is taken from the Scottish sculptor John Henning's plaster reproductions of the frieze from the temple in Greek Bassae – a series of Ionic friezes depicting Greeks at war with Amazons and Lapiths in battle with Centaurs.
