Kinesiska mattor

Thousand-year-old carpet works of art from Zhongguo
The craftsmanship of producing carpets has existed in China since the late 15th century and the carpets were then made in provinces such as Kansu, Ningxia, Suiyan and in the inner parts of Mongolia in the city of Baotou. There were different types of pattern created due to the different provinces. On old carpets the carpet maker took inspiration from the pattern made by porcelain painters, but also from silk weaves. In some cases the patterns also consists of old religious symbols from prominent dragon pattern and the symbols in the carpets often have Taoistic and Buddhistic origins.
