”Slas var ett namn som kom till när han var i övre tonåren. Han signerade sina teckningar med dessa fyra bokstäver till mitten av 70-talet. Sedan använde han för- och efternamnet och han var aldrig Slas med sina nära vänner. De kallade honom Stig John.
Kärt barn har många namn och denne konstnär var dessutom mycket mångsidig. Han rörde sig ledigt mellan olika genrer. Han tecknade detaljerade stadsbilder, ofta från Södermalm, han målade porträtt och skildrade den svenska landsbygden i olja.”
