Johanna Fjaestad är utbildad vid Konsthögskolan i Malmö men lever och verkar i Stockholm. Den aktuella målningen ”The Canoe”, utförd 2016, är oerhört suggestiv. Motivet ger associationer till Peter Doig, konstnären som satte rekordpris för en levande Europeisk konstnär 2007 när hans version av kanotmålningen ”White Canoe” såldes på Sotheby´s för 11.3 miljoner dollar.
