More information

The artwork that is hereby auctioned was made in 1972, at the time of Lars Jonsson's great breakthrough.
As a 15-year-old natural talent, he exhibited in 1967 at the Natural History Museum in Stockholm and about five years later, Lars Jonsson received international recognition. Since then, he has regularly exhibited his art in galleries and museums in Sweden, the United States and all around Europe.

The auction's artwork shows two larks, Alaemon alaudipes. In modern times called "the greater hoopoe-lark" and also one of the world's largest larks. This lark has a long and narrow beak, is viable and occurs from North Africa to India.

On 3 October 2020, Lars Jonsson's new exhibition will open at Bohusläns Museum in Uddevalla.

Earlier this year, paintings by Lars Jonsson have been shown at three different museums in the USA:
At the Wichita Falls Museum of Art in Texas (January 17-February 22, 2020),
the Newington-Cropsey Foundation in New York (March 23-May 15, 2020)
and at the Wendell Gilley Museum in Maine (June 20-September 8, 2020).

Lars Jonsson is represented at the National Museum in Stockholm as well as at several other museums and significant art collections.
