Two volumes, near-contemporary half calf, marbled sides, smooth spines richly gilt, yellow edges. Bookplate (L.F. Rääf).

Simon Pelloutier (1694-1757), French historian and Protestant priest, served as the librarian of the Academy of Sciences in Berlin. This is his most important work and was first published in the Hague 1740-50. This edition by Chiniac de la Bastide has been thoroughly revised and was met with great contemporary acclaim when it appeared.
