Målningen är utförd i Gathenhielmska huset, Göteborg vilket Anna Dahlström ägde 1904-1941. Stofttapeten vilket utgör fond i porträttet finns i det sk ”Versaillerummet” i Gathenhielmska huset.
Familjen Dahlström blev 1846 ägare till huset då repslagarmästaren Mathias Dahlström köpte fastigheten. I släkten Dahlström kom Gathenhielmska huset att stanna i 140 år innan det 1986 såldes till Göteborgs stad.
