William Anastasi was born in 1933 in Philadelphia, USA. He is an American painter and visual artist, living and working in NYC. He is known for being "one of the most underrated conceptual artists of his generation". Anastasi’s work is abstract and conceptual. Early works incorporate the use of industrial and construction materials. He is represented in collections such as Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, Guggenheim Museum, Whitney Museum, Walker Art Center, the National Gallery of Art and the Art Institute in Chicago. In 2010 Anastasi was awarded the Foundation for Contemporary Arts John Cage Award.
