Steven Sorman föddes i Minneapolis, Minnesota 1948 och utbildade sig vid University of Minnesota 1971. Sorman är främst känd för sina komplext uppbyggda målningar, teckningar och grafik. Han är en mästare på att iscensätta olika teman med linjer, lager av färg i utmanande bilder som kräver ögats fulla koncentration. ”The fact is, pictures are mute, still, and flat. I keep trying to do something about this. When they can be well imagined, maybe they will move into a curious dimension and make a little noise.
