The auction's painting was carried out in the winter of 2009, during a very successful year for the artist. Later that year, in September, Felix Gmelin received the bronze prize in the "Carnegie Art Award", in competition with the Nordic region's leading artists.
Felix Gmelin is one of the few Swedish artists invited to participate in the Venice Biennale twice, in 2007 and 2003.
Felix Gmelin participated in the Moderna museet's groundbreaking “Moderna exhibition” in 2006. He is represented at, among others, the Gothenburg Art Museum and the Moderna museet.
Felix Gmelin was born in Heidelberg, Germany. He lives and works in Stockholm and Oslo.
