Lund 1832-40. (25,5 x 19 cms.) 284; + 304 pp. + 200 hand-coloured plates (37 of mammals, 163 of birds) by Magnus Körner and the brothers von Wright. Without the list of subscribers, as often.

Two volumes, well-preserved slightly later gilt- and blindstamped morocco, marbled edges (F. Beck, Stockholm). Spines a little faded, one leaf of text in first volume with thinning at top affecting a few letters of the caption for ”Riporre”, two leaves in second volume with very short marginal tear. Some plates lightly yellowed. Clean text and plates.

Lindberg, Swedish Books, 63. A classic among Swedish illustrated zoological books, rarely found in this fine condition. A monograph by Björn Dal, Jakob Christensson & Johan Cederlund about the illustrations appeared in 2015, ”Ritade efter naturen. Magnus Körners & Sven Nilssons zoologiska planscher” (in Swedish, beautifully illustrated).
