Artist

Anna Gardell-Ericson was a Swedish artist born in Visby. She studied in Stockholm and Paris where she was influenced by painting en plein-air. Gardell-Ericson achieved great success at the Paris salong and in England. He painted primarily in watercolour and her motifs are often borrowed from Görland and Bohuslän's koast and Slottskogen in Gothenburg. Gardell-Ericson as even painted sea motifs which often emulating an aura of romanticism. Already during his time at the academy, he created watercolors featuring scenes from the Stockholm area and Gotland. The artist painted the Paris landscapes au plein-air, continuing with this technique after marrying Johan Ericsson and moving back to Gothenburg, where she instead painted the Swedish west coast. She is represented at the National Museum in Stockholm and at Gothenburg's Art Museum.
