Affischen kan ses som en parafras på konstnären Eugene Delacroix målning "Friheten på barrikaden" från 1830, som ses i övre högra hörnet. Pga affischens då kontroversiella innehåll förbjöds den att vara med i utställningen "Underground" på Lunds konsthall och skandalen med affischen gjorde att Folke Edwards, chef för konsthallen, avgick i protest. Efter händelserna vid Lunds konsthall valde Johannesson att sälja sina affischer på Kiviks marknad 1969 för tio kronor styck.
