Comprising, a cart, lenght 28 cm. Measurement wooden box 33,5x22x15 cm. A set for a Japanese tea ceremony, Measurment wooden crate 15,5x13,5x10 cm. A samuray and two sword in a rack. Measurment crate 25.5x7.5x12,5 cm.

Provenance

From the Collection of Ebba-Stina Kiku Gadelius (1916-2022), thence by descent.
The foundation of the collection was laid by her father Knut Gadelius (1864-1932), who founded the Gadelius company.
Ebba was the third child of Knut Gadelius, she was born in Tokyo and grew up in Japan. She herself had a career as an artist and textile designer both in the USA and France and her design and art was strongly influcenced by her early years in Japan.

Classical gifts of childrens day in Japan.

Tango no Sekku is celebrated on May 5th. In Japan, this day is called Boys' Festival. It's been celebrated for over a millennium. Originally it was celebrated in the houses of warriors.

The Japan Dolls Festival (Hinamatsuri), which takes place on March 3, is also known as Doll's Day or Girl's Day. On Hinamatsuri, Japanese families pray for the health, happiness, and prosperity of their young daughters. It is one of Japan's five seasonal festivities or sekku.
