Gunnar Bergquist studerade konst i München 1921 och sedan vidare på konstakademin i Weimar 1922 samt i Hamburg 1923. Han ställde ut separat på Helsingborgs konstförening samt på samlingsutställningar i Södertälje och Linköping. Hans konst består av främst stadsbilder, skymningslandskap och figurkompositioner i en ljus färgskala.
