Stig Kjellin studerade vid Tekniska skolan i Stockholm 1934-1936 och under resor till Schweiz och Spanien. Han hade många hyllade separatutställningar, bland annat på Modern konst i hemmiljö, Gummesons konsthall, Malmö rådhus, Borås konstmuseum och Lorensbergs konstsalong i Göteborg. Ihop med Eric Larsson ställde han också ut på Borås konsthall 1943.
Hans konst består av stadsutsikter, blomsterstilleben, porträtt, figurmotiv och gatumotiv. Representerad vid bland annat Borås konstförenings samling och Borås stadshus.
