Henrik Allert – A collection

Henrik Allert – ceramist, sculptor, painter and graphic artist – a private collection
In this private collection, Henrik Allert's artistic breadth is well represented. Here are the familiar figures in black/white fired clay, the glazed ceramic sculptures, terracotta sculptures and also oil paintings and graphic sheets.
Henrik Allert's sculptures move in a field of tension between nature and art. The multi-talented "Farmer" has a very special feeling for nature. As a trained artist and ceramicist, he portrays the same in expressive forms. In his world of sculpture and images, one can sense influences from prehistoric art and non-European cultures. The figures can conceivably represent animals and birds, but the shape can also appear as human sculptures or prehistoric animals. Most often, however, they appear as familiar, timeless creatures shaped in various techniques with associations to fairy tales and archaic myth.
Henrik Allert, born in 1937, grew up on a farm in Västergötland where everyday life was characterized by animals and nature. His interest in working with his hands was awakened at a young age and he went to HDK/Slöjdföreningen's school in Gothenburg. After completing his degree, he worked for a couple of years at Rörstrand and then started his own ceramics and artist workshop outside Skövde, where he is still active. Since his debut exhibition in Stockholm in 1971, Henrik Allert has had many exhibitions in Sweden and internationally. His works can be found in public spaces, in museums and in private collections.
