Peter Stanick föddes i Pittsburgh 1953 och är idag verksam i Florida. Han utbildade sig vid Carnegie Mellon University 1975 och tog sedan en MFA från Indiana University of Pennsylvania 1977. Stanicks fick sin första separatutställning på Mendelson Gallery i Pittsburgh 1981. Stanick ingår i de offentliga samlingarna på Metropolitan Museum of Art, Osaka Museum of Art och Carnegie Museum i Pittsburgh bland annat.
