Fitzpatrick was born in Long Island. Her work encompasses sculpture, video, photography and a variety of found objects and images. She references the idea of a modern flaneur in her work, and makes visual puns on sexuality.
Fitzpatrick was a member of the faculty at Yale. She were also one of the founders of Bellwether Gallery, by which she was later represented. She is currently represented by American Contemporary Gallery in New York, NY.
A notable show was Daphne Fitzpatrick: The Baton at Art in General in New York City. Other notable shows were at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston in Houston and BRIC in New York City.
