Reino Niskanen graduated from the Goldsmith School in 1971 and, as a talented blacksmith, started working at Tillander in 1972, where he worked in medal design until 1976. His bronze jewelry was also sought after outside the country.
Niskanen spent most of his working life as an entrepreneur, at Kaivertamo Niskanen from 1976 to 1978 and Kulta-Mitali Oy from 1978.
As a creative goldsmith, he also designed articles for Kultakeskus. These objects reflect his interest in nature. The influence of nature can also be seen in the Tommi-knife designed for Kainuun Puukko Oy. According to the information given, Niskanen created the unique copper relief in 1973 at Tillander and was inspired by the lunar life.
