The auction's painting was carried out in the winter of 2009, during a very successful year for the artist. Later that year, in September, Felix Gmelin received the bronze prize in the "Carnegie Art Award", in competition with the Nordic region's leading artists.

Felix Gmelin is one of the few Swedish artists invited to participate in the Venice Biennale twice, in 2007 and 2003.

Felix Gmelin participated in the Moderna museet's groundbreaking “Moderna exhibition” in 2006. He is represented at, among others, the Gothenburg Art Museum and the Moderna museet.
Felix Gmelin was born in Heidelberg, Germany. He lives and works in Stockholm and Oslo.

Felix Gmelin's major exhibitions include, among others, the Center for Contemporary Art Kosovo (2011), Frankfurt and Malmö Art Museums (2005), Cartier Paris (2011), Les Jacobins Toulouse (2010), The Power Plant Toronto (2008), the Statens Museum for Kunst Köpenhamn (2008), Dortmund Germany (2007-2008), the Venice Biennale (2007), the Berlin Biennial curated by Maurizio Cattelan (2006), the Modern Exhibition Moderna Museet Stockholm (2006), MASS MoCA USA (2006) and the Venice Biennale (2003
