More information

More about Anna Hellsgård Christian Gfeller

The artist duo Gfeller and Hellsgård are masterful screenprinters. They chanel their artist ideas and ambitions through this technique by experimenting deconstructing, and reconstructing. Despite, or perhaps because of, their technical skill, the duo allows themselves to deconstruct even the conventions and techniques that govern the printing process, by working with intentional color overlaps, smudges, gaps, and transparency. Each work is developed intuitively, like an experimental painting, where mistakes, errors, and relearning play a crucial role.
Anna Hellsgård was born in Stockholm in 1980 and Christian Gfeller in Haguenau, France, in 1973. They have been working together since 2001, based in Berlin and Stockholm, and their works have been exhibited throughout Europe.
