More information

Kjell Engman's "Catwalk" is inspired by a magazine article about tailoring in the beginning of the last century. He was fascinated by the simplicity of the fashion illustrations of the time and began to sketch his own clothing collection and explore movements through light.

Designer

Kjell Engman is a Swedish glass artist born in Stockholm 1946. He studied at Konstfack (University of Arts, Crafts and Design) and at Pilchuck, USA. Since 1978, Engman has been a designer at Kosta Boda. His glasswork is characterized by vibrant colors and playful shapes. His design language often deals with musical instruments and motifs from the animal and plant kingdoms. He frequently works on larger installations where glass is combined with elements such as sound and light. Kjell is widely commissioned for public art projects both in Sweden and internationally. He has an incredible ability to freeze time and immortalize moments of movement in glass.
