Helena Blomqvist, born in 1975 in Smedjebacken, Dalarna, is an artist and photographer residing in Stockholm. She creates imaginative and narrative images using models, props, and digital manipulation. Blomqvist's art is characterized by a unique sense for colors and light, where the set design is as important as the main characters. Influenced by Christer Strömholm and Cindy Sherman, she combines their conceptual and documentary approaches in a dreamlike melancholy.
After her studies at the School of Photography and Film in Gothenburg, Blomqvist has exhibited at places such as Vida Museum & Konsthall, Halltorp, Bror Hjorts Museum, Uppsala, Linköpings Konsthall, Fotografiska in Stockholm, the Swedish embassy in Berlin, and Living Art Museum Nylo, Reykjavik. Her works are represented at Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, Hasselblad Foundation in Gothenburg, Borås Art Museum, as well as in private collections both nationally and internationally.
