Owe Gustafson, born in Eskilstuna in 1940, is a Swedish film animator, graphic designer, illustrator, printmaker, and author. After studying at Konstfack from 1959-1964 and at the Royal Institute of Art in 1970, he created the iconic animations for "Fem myror är fler än fyra elefanter" (Five Ants Are More Than Four Elephants). Gustafson has also worked as a freelance illustrator for Dagens Nyheter for thirty years and has held exhibitions in Tokyo, Paris, New York, and throughout Sweden, as well as published several books. Gustafson's art is represented in collections including the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm and the National Gallery in Oslo.

In the foreword to Gustafson's book "Urval" (Selection), published in 2009, the Swedish artist Dan Wolgers describes Gustafson's artistry with the words:
"..Owe Gustafson's lines and surfaces are like cut in wood, like woodcuts. The Japanese masters expressed themselves with concise poignancy, Gustafson took over and developed a quirky poignancy."
