A painted provincial chest, Hälsingland, Sweden, dated 1819.

Polychrome painted. Fittings of wrought iron. Rectangular shape with a raised section on the lid. Decorated with floral garlands, flower bouquets, and a crown. The lid features an interior white painting and a decoration of a man with script. Dated 1819 and monogrammed PJS.
Interior of leather. Width 87.5 cm, depth 51.5 cm, height 49.5 cm.

Interior of the lid with older/original painting, exterior decoration later repainted. Lock missing. Dry cracks. Loss of paint. Slightly loose lid. Localised wear with scratches and marks. Complemented.
