Med Djurkyrkogården som utgångspunkt och med stöd i anknytningsteorin, utvecklad av bla Bowlby/Ainsworth i mitten av 1900-talet, undersöker Kleberg frågor kring hur vi påverkas i våra nära relationer och av förlusten/avskanden, med allt vad det innebär av närhet, trygghet och omsorg. Filmen är uppbyggd kring samtal med personer som på något sätt har eller har haft en relation till ett djur.
