More information

Ivar Konstantin Kaskas (b. 1841, Vanaja – d. 1889, Hämeenlinna) was a Finnish artist. He studied at the Drawing School of the Finnish Art Society in Turku in 1859 under the guidance of R. W. Ekman, as well as at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm from 1865 to 1867. After his studies, Kaskas returned to his native region in Hämeenlinna.

Of Ivar Kaskas's artistic output, only a few dozen works have been preserved. His production is characterised by detailed interior paintings, still lifes, and portraits, as well as landscape paintings depicting the artist's homeland, Hämeenlinna and its surroundings. He often painted alongside his fellow student, the artist K.E. Jansson, from the Åland islands

Kaskas's works are represented in the collections of the Ateneum, the Hämeenlinna Art Museum, and the Turku Art Museum.
