An emboidered Peking Opera (jingju 京剧) silk costume from the Republic period, 20th century.
Costume for Peking opera decorated with embroidered polychrome dragons and flowers to a black ground, partially embroidered with metallic thread. Width c. 185 cm between the sleeves, length c. 138 cm.
Wear, loose threads. Repairs and partially later lining.
Provenance
Purchased in an antique shop in Helsinki in the 1960s.
