A porcelain brush washer, China, Qing dynasty, 19th century.
Round with a slightly flared rim. Decorated in rouge de fer depicting Zhong Kui, the demon queller, dressed as a warrior with a sword in hand as well as dressed as a scholar. With the Kangxi mark in underglaze blue, but of later manufacture. Height 8, diameter 10.7 cm.
Minor surface wear and stains.
