Carleson executed this watercolour when he was only 18 years old. Gustaf Wilhelm Carleson was a military officer, but he retired as a colonel in 1828 and moved to the Odensviholm estate, which his wife, Anna Charlotta Granschough (1793-1881), had inherited the same year.
