Conservation:
Royal Household, 1988.
During the conservation, the previous mounting and backing were removed. The tapestry was carefully vacuum-cleaned and washed in deionised water with a specially formulated detergent. Following cleaning, the tapestry was stretched and the most vulnerable areas were conserved. A new mounting was then carried out, consisting of cotton webbing and support straps.
