A pair of Japanese Kutani porcelain table lamps, 20th century.
Ovoid with four parted bases. Decorated with gilding and enamel colours depicting frogs dressed in robes playing games, painting and playing musical instruments in a landscape setting with flowers and birds. Marked 'Kutani by Watatani' to bases. Height porcelain c. 34 cm.
Not tested for function. Lamp mounting glued to the porcelain.

The motif is a parody of "The Four Accomplishments," a classic Chinese literati theme that has been appreciated since the 13th century.
