Ehrenfried Wahlqvist (1815 - 1895) was a Swedish painter.
Wahlqvist began his apprenticeship as a painter in Helsingborg at the age of 12 before he became a trumpeter in the Skåne Hussar Regiment, where he was enrolled for 22 years. Even during his time at the regiment, he started to devote himself to painting, executing a large number of portraits. To further his knowledge, he travelled to Copenhagen, where he could study under various artists. As a close friend of Kilian Zoll, he came to know several artists, including the Swedish marine painter Marcus Larson, who would later become one of his close friends in Düsseldorf.
