A French lacque noir, tortoiseshell and ormolu snuffbox with a medallion after Claude Galle, early 19th century.
Box of black lacquer with a rim of tortoiseshell. Lid with an inset medallion in gilded bronze marked "NAPOLEON EMPEREUR / GALLE FECIT". The diameter of the box is approximately 82mm, the diameter of the medallion is approximately 46mm.
Minor wear. The box with crackling and a later gift marking from 1907 on the bottom.
