"Karin Alfredsson är född 1966 på Frösön i Jämtland. Hon bor och är verksam i Stockholm och Jämtland.

Karin Alfredsson söker sig till orörd nordlig natur, där människans närvaro har varit minimal. Hon tar sig fram på skidor eller till fots, arbetar långsamt, återkommer för att lära känna en plats och inväntar rätt förutsättningar. Väderförhållanden, ljus och atmosfär är lika viktiga för henne som själva landskapet. Hon försöker inte skapa en bild av naturen. Det är ren natur hon söker.

De senaste åren har hon regelbundet ställt ut i Sverige och internationellt. Hon har haft soloutställningar på institutioner som Liljevalchs i Stockholm, Nobel Prize Museum i Stockholm och House of Sweden i USA samt på ett flertal gallerier runtom i Sverige och utomlands.

2018 deltog hon i en polarforsknings-expedition till Nordpolen och har belönats med ett flertal stipendium, däribland Liljevalchs och Stiftelsen San Micheles nyinrättade Capri stipendium 2019.

Karin Alfredsson finns representerad på Moderna Museet, Statens konstråd, Stockholm konst och ett dussintal andra institutioner."
