Allegedly from the Danish telegraphist and art collector Sophus Black (1882-1960), who served in China from 1902 to 1931 for the Great Northern Telegraph Company (Store Nordiske Telegrafselskab). Black was a respected collector who, among other things, donated items to the National Museum of Denmark.
