The graceful figure wearing a long-sleeved surcoat belted above the waist, the head turned to one side and hair pulled up into two topknots, depicted in animated pose, gracefully stepping forward with one arm raised and the other resting upon her side. Height 27 cm.

Traces of colour pigment.

Location
Västberga Allé 3, Hägersten - V22
Provenance

From the collection of Carlo Lizzani (1922-2013), who purchased it during the production of the film Muragalia Chinese (Behind the Great Wall) in 1958. The figure was given as a gift to the present owner, a Swedish lady in 1969.

In 1957 Carlo Lizzani spent ten months of his life as a filmmaker and researcher in China, to make the first feature-length documentary film by a Western director in that nation which at the time was considered almost like a fairy-tale country by Westerners.
