Bukowskis’ themed auction Tuomas and Eero von Boehm – Father and Son highlights two significant members of the same artistic family. Both Tuomas and Eero von Boehm developed their own distinctive styles within the Finnish modern art scene during the latter half of the 20th century. In this themed auction, the dark-toned works of father Tuomas and the vividly coloured works of son Eero come together in a dialogue between two generations of artists and the different stages of their lives. The comprehensive selection of 25 works, comprising paintings, prints and drawings, reveals the artists’ versatility across different periods of their careers.

Aarne Tuomas Herbert von Boehm (1916–2000) studied at the Finnish Art Society art school in 1937–38 under the guidance of Uuno Alanko and made his debut with his first exhibition in 1945. In addition to painting, Tuomas von Boehm was also active in the Finnish graphic arts scene, notably as one of the founders of the artists’ group “Viiva ja väri” (‘Line and colour’). Later in his career, Tuomas von Boehm also worked as an art teacher and held various positions of trust, including serving as a member of the board of the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts and its museum committee.
