Aarne Tuomas Herbert von Boehm (1916–2000) studied at the Finnish Art Society art school in 1937–38 under the guidance of Uuno Alanko and made his debut with his first exhibition in 1945. In addition to painting, Tuomas von Boehm was also active in the Finnish graphic arts scene, notably as one of the founders of the artists’ group “Viiva ja väri” (‘Line and colour’). Later in his career, Tuomas von Boehm also worked as an art teacher and held various positions of trust, including serving as a member of the board of the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts and its museum committee. In 1967 the artist was awarded the Pro Finlandia Medal. Read more
