Peter Käänteinen, a goldsmith from Tornio, founded Tiura-Uistin in 1881 and began the production of spoon baits in Kemi. His apprentice Frans Wilhelm Tiura continued manufacturing spoon baits until the eve of Winter War in 1939.
Tiura has continued handicrafting lures in Finland ever since.
