Jean de Montluc: Sermons sur l’occasion dominicale avec plusieurs oraisons. Paris, Michel de Vascosan, 1561. 8vo. 15,5 x 10 cm. 182 pp.

17th century full calf, spine richly gilt, scuffed & worn but sound, marbled endpapers, bookplate of Abbé Perrossier and traces of another bookplate, margins ruled in ink throughout, first title with a few old inscriptions crossed out.

The second and third parts in first edition. The first part was one of three works condemned by the Sorbonne, and on 13 April 1563, Jean de Monluc and seven other French bishops were summoned to Rome by Pope Pius IV to be examined on charges of heresy by the Inquisition. The principal charge against Monluc was adoption of doctrines of Calvinism, and on 11 October 1566 he was declared a heretic and deprived of his benefices by Pope Pius V.
