Efter den blodiga militärkuppen i Chile 1973, då president Allende störtades av en militärjunta ledd av general Pinochet, ansåg många att Sverige skulle bojkotta Davis Cup-matchen i tennis mot Chile som en protest mot juntan.
Från Svenska Tennisförbundets sida resonerade man att sport och politik inte hör ihop. I Båstad där matchen spelades den 20 september 1975, samlades flera tusen demonstranter. Protesterna räckte dock inte för att stoppa matchen.
I samband med detta spelade Hoola Bandoola Band in singeln ”Stoppa matchen” som ett inlägg i debatten. All royalties från försäljningen gick till den chilenska motståndsrörelsen.
