EINAR FORSETH, oil on canvas, signed Einar Forseth.
Landscape with houses by a lake. 33.5 x 47 cm.
Crazing. Partial loss of paint.
The present picture is probably painted shortly before or during his studies at the Royal Academy in Stockholm between 1912-15. It was during these years that Axel Fridell, Foseth’s students fellow at the Academy, painted his famous portrait of Forseth (1914) (sale, Sotheby’s, 2020, 27 May, lot 117 £25000). Forseth is today most famous for his murals in the Townhall in Stockholm where the nobel festivities are staged annually.
