PALSHUS 1947-1972
In 1947, Per Linnemann-Schmidt and his wife, Annelise, opened a ceramics studio under the name Palshus (later Palshus Stentøj) in Sengeløse, Denmark. Together, they created hand-turned art and utility goods as well as unique objects of a remarkably high technical and artistic quality. In the mid-1950s, the workshop experimented with new clays and glazes, and in 1957 a new estate was developed with a rustic chamotte body, carved decor in simple, geometric patterns and high-gloss glazes; the colors of such pieces varied depending on the relative thickness with which the glaze settled on the engraved surface. The production of both types of ceramics continued until the end of 1972, when Per Linnemann Schmidt closed the studio after his wife's death.
