Studie skala 1:1 utförd i samband med Forsbergs arbete på sin kända monumentala målning "Gustaf II Adolf före slaget vid Lützen", fullbordad i Paris 1900 och utställd där samma år (3 x 5 m.) (Göteborgs Konstmuseum). En oljeskiss till hela kompositionen finns i Nationalmuseum (NM 6754). I sina memoarer har Forsberg ingående redogjort för tillkomsten av målningen (N. Forsberg, Mitt liv, 1929, ss. 249-272).
