The poster can be seen as a paraphrase of the artist Eugene Delacroix's painting "Freedom on the Barricade" from 1830, seen in the upper right corner. Due to the poster's then controversial content, it was banned from participating in the exhibition "Underground" at Lund Art Gallery and the scandal with the poster caused Folke Edwards, head of the art gallery, to resign in protest. After the events at Lund Art Gallery, Johannesson chose to sell his posters at Kivik's market in 1969 for ten kronor each.
