Crepe books. With plentiful illustrations in woodblock print. "Japanische Dramen Terakoya u.[nd] Asago"; "Dichtergrüsse aus dem Osten: Japanische Dichtungen" 9th ed., both in Geman translation by K. Florenz, (Leipzig: C.f Amelangs Verlag, Ex Libris Berndt Rutger and Lars Friedrich Koch. 20x15 cm.

Some wear and scuff marks, hand writen notes and slip covers faded and with minor stains.

Provenance

Previously in the collection of Bernt Rutger 1907, then to Lars Friedrich Koch, then to the present collector of who purchased it in the early 2000.

Literature

The first Japanese crêpe paper (chirimen) books were published in 1885 (Meiji 18) by Hasegawa Takejirô.
