Bianca Maria Barmen, born in 1960 in Malmö, studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen from 1985 to 1992, and has since lived and worked in Lund. Barmen is primarily known as a sculptor but also works with watercolours, drawings, and photography. In her art, she often depicts interactions between humans and animals. She primarily works on a small scale, and her art carries a tranquil tone.
Recently, she has had solo exhibitions at: Galleri Hammarén, Gothenburg (2023); Galleri DGV, Svendborg-DK (2022); Galleri Thomas Wallner, Simris (2021); Skåda Stella, St. Paul's Church, Malmö (2021); and Dalsland Art Museum (2021). Among her group exhibitions are: Galleri Arnstedt, Östra Karup (2022); CAT, Specta Gallery, Copenhagen-DK (2022); Corner, Sophienholm-DK (2022); and Sanctuary, Martin Bryder Gallery, Lund (2020-21).
She is represented at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Gothenburg Museum of Art, Norrköping Art Museum, Tore A. Jonasson's collection at the Swedish Sports Museum in Stockholm, Dunkers Cultural House - Helsingborg Museum, to name a few.
