Signed with artist's seal in red Zhuanwei 川渭 Feiran 飛然. Ink and watercolour on paper. Depicts a seated scholar dressed in a blue draped robe holding a green jade snuff bottle, accompanied by two boys holding sprigs of flowers, set in a garden with bamboo and pine. Image 59 x 106 cm.

Not examined out of frame. Stains. Creases. Yellowing.

Provenance

Swedish telegraph operator Andreas Hansen Eriksen (1869-1953). He was stationed for GN Nord in Shanghai in 1897 and as manager 1901-1913, after which he worked for the Chinese authorities until 1927.
